WILEY WIGGINS – Mud Room

A Mud Room is a transitional space in a home that links inside and outside. The phrase “Mud Room” might also recall a space within a Multi User Dungeon- an early form of persistent multiplayer fantasy game. Mud Room, a new installation work by Wiley Wiggins, reconfigures a family history into an explorable game space where acts of ritualized devotion or desecration may take place. The piece serves as a recreation of a child’s experience of games and technology that were mysterious, expansive, balanced at the edge of meaning and incoherence, and backgrounded by multigenerational trauma.
